David Reiser is a partner of GRIP LEGAL specializing in corporate clients, litigation/arbitration and international affairs. One specialty of David’s is advising and representing clients in M&A transactions where he can draw on many years of experience in a large number of transactions. He advises clients primarily in commercial and corporate law, developing and drafting contracts as well as conducting litigation to enforce or defend against claims in these legal areas. Clients particularly appreciate the strategic orientation of his advice.
David studied law at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University in Bonn. After freelance work as a company lawyer at Messer Griesheim GmbH he completed his referendarship (Referendariat) at the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf. David gained his expertise in U.S. American law working for Alston & Bird LLP in New York City and in distribution law working in the distribution law department of Graf von Westphalen, Bappert & Modest in Cologne. He began his legal career as attorney in 2005 at the law firm Hölters & Elsing (now Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP) in Düsseldorf, where he worked until 2015, finishing up there as a counsel. After that, David joined ADKL Abels Decker Kuhfuss & Partner mbB as partner of this medium-sized interdisciplinary law firm and proceeded to expand the firm’s legal advice department. David brings all his professional expertise to GRIP LEGAL where he continues his consulting practice.
Privately, David is a big fan of French car maker Citroen’s iconic and quirky “bagnole”, the 2CV (…at least he’ll never need a lawyer to beat speeding raps…) and does voluntary work as a council member of the foundation, “It’s for Kids” in Düsseldorf. He is also active in various entrepreneur networks. David Reiser is married with three children.
