Katja Immes is a partner at GRIP LEGAL specializing in private clients, taxes and international affairs. She advises and supports national and international entrepreneurs, entrepreneur families and wealthy individuals on asset preservation and succession planning. Katja’s particular specialty is legal and tax consulting with regard to Anglo-Saxon trusts, especially U.S. trusts. She can draw on many years of experience as a lawyer and tax adviser as well as time spent working in the U.S.A. Katja also specializes in advising clients on inheritance law and taxation. What clients particularly appreciate about Katja’s consulting services is her ability to take a broader view of the individual professional disciplines and her resulting holistic consulting approach. Katja can draw on practical experience in legal and tax consulting services as well as auditing for the allround benefit of her clients.

Katja Immes studied law at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen-Nürnberg. After her referendarship (Referendariat) at the Higher District Court of Nuremberg she began her legal career at the BDO AG auditing company, Düsseldorf where she headed up the assets and company succession department from 2010 to 2015. Apart from her admission to the bar as attorney-at-law in Germany, Katja has also been a tax adviser since 2005 and a qualified mediator (INeKO Cologne) since 2018. After two further periods in the medium-sized, multidisciplinary consultancy companies Warth & Klein Grant Thornton AG auditing company, Düsseldorf, and ADKL Abels Decker Kuhfuss & Partner mbB, Düsseldorf, Katja decided to bring her expertise as a founding partner to GRIP LEGAL.

Katja Immes writes commentaries in the Wilms/Jochum inheritance and gift tax law and is co-author of the book, published by nwb, “Smart ways to bequeath real estate”. Katja is married and does voluntary work as curator of the foundation “It’s for Kids” in Düsseldorf.
